Fun Ideas For Limited Space

Fun Ideas For Limited Space

We know sometimes having a compact indoor or outdoor space limits the variety of children’s play equipment on offer. In an era where kids need to have the biggest and best, sometimes we as parents struggle to provide our kids with exactly that. However, you don’t have to make sacrifices as there are plenty of exciting play equipment options suitable to smaller indoor and outdoor spaces.

Swing & Slide

The timeless favourite in terms of kids play equipment would have to be the swing and slide set. A smaller swing set such as the Amber 3 Swing Set is great for small to medium sized backyards. This swing set is built to last with interchangeable seats, so once the kids get bored you can spice up the set with a new seat. Otherwise, for a narrower yard the Slippery Slide 3 could fit in well with your yard structure. The smaller scale of this slide makes it easy to transport and store.

Climb & Rock

If your little one is not so little anymore and beginning to play on their own, then climbing and rocking equipment may be their calling. For the daredevils of the family the Lil’ Monkey Dome Climber may be the perfect addition to the backyard. The smaller dome climber can be deconstructed to fit neatly in its original package so it's out of the way when you need the extra space. Again, for narrower backyards a Rocka Wooden See Saw takes up minimal room and can be lined against the fence so it’s not the centerpiece of your backyard.

Jump

When you have energetic kids, who play like no tomorrow sometimes a sandpit or pretend play just doesn't  suffice. Most parents are under the impression that a trampoline or bouncy castle is too big for smaller backyards, but that isn’t necessarily true. For small to medium sized yards a  7ft HyperJump Hoppy Trampoline is a smaller scale trampoline suitable for kids up to 50kg. Otherwise, an inflatable option is the AirZone 6 9ft Bouncer. Although the AirZone 6 is quiet space consuming once inflated I can be easily condensed using the air pump to fit into the storage bag.

Creative Fun

Kids who are more creative and enjoy role play don’t have to miss out on the outdoor fun. Kids with creative imaginations may enjoy the Eden Outdoor Play Kitchen or the Joey Sandpit with CanopyBoth these options are smaller than 1.2m in length and height, making it ideal for very small backyards. Alternatively, the Starplay Activity Cube is a great alternative for younger children who are still crawling. The cube is easy to move, and the tunnel retracts into the cube making it very space efficient.

Cubby Houses

Cubby houses are a classic and sometimes nostalgic piece of equipment. They’re a great addition to any back yard as they’re durable, encourage imaginative play and best of all, available in a variety of different sizes. A wooden style house that’s bound to last for years is the Teddy Cubby House in Natural Timber and its less that 2 meters wide. Otherwise for a smaller plastic version, you may want to consider the Wombat V2 Playhouse. Cubby houses are great when you have less space width wise, as they tend to take up more height space.

Indoor options

Living in an apartment, looking for a playroom addition or simply don’t want outside equipment? We’ve got you covered too! For rising athletes the Buzzer Beater Basketball Set may be a great option, or better yet combine a basketball net with a slide and invest in the Topaz 2 in 1 Slide. There are also numerous options for kids who are more interested in creative and pretend play. Who needs paintings when you’ve got the Creativ Drawing Board to showcase all your kid’s beautiful paintings in any room in the house? Alternately the Al Dente Play Kitchen is ideal for any chefs in the making, with its small structure making it easy to tuck into a playroom.

With the quickly expanding product market for children’s play equipment, there is something to suit every house and land size. The best and most exciting play equipment isn’t just limited to the outdoors, there’s plenty of indoor options that come with the added bonus of no mud into the house when the playing is over. Foldable and deflatable play equipment is a convenient feature that allows equipment to be stored away when you wish to re-purpose the space for other activities.
