Sandpit play is the perfect outlet for creative, unstructured play and hands-on learning. A timber sandpit gives children the freedom to dig, build and explore different textures while developing motor skills and social interaction. Our collection includes everything from a small wooden sandpit for compact yards to a large wooden sandpit for bigger play areas. Find a wooden square sandpit, a timber sandpit with cover or a wooden sandpit with wooden lid, our range is designed to get kids outdoors and away from screens for hours of sensory fun.
About Our Childrens Wooden Sandpits
Our childrens wooden sandpits are built with solid timber frames, using wood that's been high temperature treated for added strength and durability. This treatment helps protect against rot, decay and insect damage, built to handle the harsh Aussie climate. Many models include practical features such as a wooden sandpit with cover or a timber sandpit with lid to keep sand clean between play sessions. Each sandpit also includes an internal ground sheet to prevent weeds or grass from growing into the sand.

Timber Sand Pits FAQ
Lifespan Kids wooden sandpits are made from solid timber that has been high temperature treated to improve strength and resistance to outdoor conditions. This process helps protect the timber from rot, decay and insect damage, ensuring the sandpit remains safe and durable for your backyard.
A small wooden sandpit is great for compact backyards, courtyards or limited outdoor spaces. These designs still provide enough room for digging and creative play while fitting neatly into smaller areas. Choosing a wooden square sandpit can also help maximise usable play space without taking up too much room.
The amount of sand required depends on the size of the sandpit. A small wooden sandpit may need around 100kg of sand, while a large timber sandpit can require 500kg or more. Always check the product specifications for exact recommendations.
Many wooden sandpits include a timber sandpit with cover or a wooden sandpit with wooden lid. These covers help protect the sand from weather, pets and debris when not in use. Some lids also double as seating, adding extra practicality to the sandpit design.
An internal ground sheet helps prevent weeds and grass from growing up into the sand while allowing proper drainage. This keeps the sand cleaner, drier and more hygienic, extending its lifespan and reducing maintenance for parents.
